It doesn’t photograph well, but it looks significantly better than the 1500, and as a hater of unnecessary chrome, better than the last. The front isn’t nearly as out of proportion as the photos make it look, it’s pretty much equal to the rest of the truck. The mirrors are stupid and tacky though.

This thing just screams “ ’Murica!” though. It looks e xtremely tacky, at least in the pictures I've seen.

I’ve seen a few YouTube videos and they look better on video too. Haven’t yet seen one in real life.

Yeah, I had no clue it was out yet, but the local dealer has one. I’d still get a Ford or a Ram, but it looks a lot better than I expected.

In pictures it looks awful, but in person it looks alright. It’s better than the last one with it’s completely chrome front end.

The grill is bad but those wheel arches. Ugh

It’s the best looking one, behind the Ram and the Ford. It’s still behind them both, because that hood scoop looks bad, and that grill design is straight from a 1980's Plymouth Voyager.
And the DEF tumor tank hanging off of the bottom looks ridiculous .

Again, it photographs really badly, but in person it’s not that bad. It’s still the worst out of the big 3, but it has been for a while now.

Too many truck owners dont need or use a truck anywhere near its capability. If I actually needed to load or tow, Id have to give GM first dibs after going a quarter million miles before selling a still running Astro with the 4.3. Needed tranny at 180k for $1800, but never stranded. Just wasnt worth fixing sensors at 248k in a city with emissions testing. GM Ford and FCA suffer from the beancounting in many models, but if I went domestic again it'd be a GM

Having experience with a new Silverado 1500, I would definitely go any other direction.

Honestly its not terrible, but the grill/hood is needlessly high. Why is it higher than the window-bed height? “Bold” and “macho”

It’s not really noticeable in person. Whoever took the official pictures should be fired and never re-hired.

I’ve seen in IRL and I can’t look past it. Comes across like its stuffing socks in it’s pants, in my humble opinion.

Yeah, when is GM gonna figure out how to make proper wheel arches!

So going with tradition? The arguement for the Voyager doesn’t make sense since GM has used stacked lights since 81
DEF tank I get and in a really stupid location, but in the land of no emissions most modified ones around here don’t even have it.
Technically an 80s design as well

I sound like beating a dead horse.
I go to Enterprise Truck rental and get a nice Ford F-250 6.7L diesel for those once in a blue moon truck haul.
$115 per day and I'm good. Don't need it for the rest of the year.

Look at again, and tell me honestly that the stacked light/signal combo does not favor the Voyager more. Unless the picture isn’t loading for you, you can’t.

Nos I like that. I've seen the same body color on a front grill in person and it looks really good.

I didn’t say it does not look similar or wasnt close. The way its sounding though is GM just pull this design specifically from the Voyager. And it’s a surprise they are similar.
Yes the head lights are stacked but better separated like the square bodies unlike the previous gen (gmt900) which draws an even closer comparison to the Voyager
A nd even so we are arguing historic designs, square body vs the original mini van. So why is this a bad thing?

Possibly so they have room to pile all of the emissions control crap on top of the Duramax?

My Safari is pushing 252k miles.
I re-engined it at around 136k miles with a GM reman. I had the transmission rebuilt when I bought the car, around 125k miles. Bought it knowing it needed a transmission. I’ve driven this van from the Pacific to the Atlantic and back three times. I can only think of one time that the car would not start, in my driveway, when the fuel pump went out. I had an alternator go south one time. I just rebuilt the front end and installed a set of injectors and a full tune-up, and last year, it got a new water pump and all new hoses. All AC Delco parts. Currently, the passenger door is sprung and needs adjusted or re-hinged or something. I need to get the body shop to advise me on that.

Yeah I wouldn’t even consider a chrome version. T hough it’s rare option for body color

The HD front end is 100x better than the standard Silverado front end. And the HD front end sucks.
I rode in a new Sil verado recently. I was using Lyft to get home from dropping off my company van for service, and the Silverado my driver had felt super cramped and cheap inside. This is compared to my 11-year old F-150. Now, maybe the new F-150 feels as cramped since the greenhouses on everything keep getting smaller, but I haven’t ridden in one yet. I know the Rams don’t feel that way. But the interiors on the GM trucks are SO cheap.

How is that possible, in this day and age ?
I have a very barebones F-150 and I would take it over any high-end Silverado. I’m not even a GM hater. It was just awful. I think the 2007-2013 ones were good.

Looks wise, but interior wise they are about the same. I absolutely hate the 2014-19 trucks. They have far too much chrome, so much so, that this new one is toned down.
I don’t like the 2007-13 trucks either, but that’s because they are a dive in quality from the GMT800. I vastly prefer the GMT900 to our 2019 Monstrosity 1500 though. The fact that they removed console storage is a punch in the face.

The entire front end is no longer a slab of chrome. Also, the entire front is necessary to keep it cool when it's working.

Working ? Like 3% of the time, in most cases?
No, that thing is all about projecting hand size.

Shopping for a truck my wife had a uncomfortable time looking over the hood of a Ram 1500 with it’s bulbous design even with the seat up high.
“I guess you’ll be driving this”.
That’s a no go for me. I agreed with her unlike the Ford hood one can kinda so-so make out what’s in front of you.

That def tank. Good gravy I walked up to the passenger side of the truck and had me wondering what that was. It was that obnoxious. Salesman told me.
Without the side step option it looks atrocious like something hanging off the bottom.
